Author Interview + {GIVEAWAY!}: Cindy Hogan

Cindy Hogan

Cindy M Hogan graduated from BYU with a B.A. in education. She is inspired by the unpredictable teenagers she teaches. She loves the outdoors and spending time with her husband and two daughters. Most of all, she loves to laugh.

1. Can you please give the readers a brief synopsis of your book?

*Change. She longs for it. A murder. She will never be the same.*
It takes more than a school trip to Washington DC to change Christy’s life. It takes murder.
A witness to the brutal slaying of a senator’s aide, Christy finds herself watched not only by the killer and the FBI, but also by two hot guys.
She discovers that if she can’t help the FBI, who want to protect her, it will cost her and her new friends their lives.

2. When you come up with your plots, do they come all at once, or bit by bit?

I know the beginning and the end and the middle fills itself in as I go. I actually talk it out while I walk in the mornings and even record my ideas. Then I work it out on the computer after that.

3. How has your process to publication been so far?

Watched made it to the finalist round in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest in 2011. That basically sent my book to publication and it has been such a fun ride. The sequel, Protected, will be released the last week of March. I can’t wait for the launch parties.

4. Why do you like YA literature?

Really, I’m just a kid. I’ve never truly grown up. I live with two amazing teenagers and I work with them every day. They keep me young. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love how unpredictable the are-just like most YA literature. I like quick, fun reads that keep me guessing and that I hate to put down. YA literature does that for me most of the time.

Fun questions!

5. List 3 of your dream jobs, the kind of jobs that you know you’d never actually have, but would love anyway.

I’d love to work for the CIA or FBI. Maybe that’s why I write about it. Living my dream vicariously.
I’d also love to be an archeologist. But just for one day and at a cool dig site. I actually started college with that dream, but the reality set in quick.
I’d also love to be a recreation specialist who guides tours in the rugged wide world.

6. If you could have any super power, what would it be?

That’s easy. I’d love to fly. I have this reoccurring dream that I can fly and it is amazing. Imagine the things I’d see…

  2. I think it would be so neat to be a tour guide. I would learn so much training for the job plus it would be fun. Thanks for the interview.
